MCSA: Security is one of the many certifications offered by Microsoft. This specialization identifies and separates those IT professionals who exhibit profound, role-based security skills on the Microsoft Windows\'ae 2000 platform. MCSA: Security specialization offers a way for you to highlight your focus on security in the organization and demonstrate your ability to create a shielded computing environment. There are two different platforms on which MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) security specialization is offered. These two are security on Microsoft Windows 2000 and security on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Mentioned below are the requirements for each of these certifications.
MCSA: Security on Microsoft Windows 2000 Certification Requirements The MCSA: Security on Microsoft Windows 2000 certification recognizes those systems administrators who have earned specialization in the implementation, management and maintenance of security on Microsoft platforms. It also recognizes those who have their focus on making a secure computing environment. There are total of three core exams and two security specialization exams. As a MCSA: Security on Microsoft Windows 2000 candidate you will have to pass all the core exams and the security specialization exams. Now we will discuss the two security specialization exams in some more details. Security specialization exams consist of Exam 70-214, Exam 70-227, Exam 70-350, and CompTIA Security+. Exam 70-214 deals with implementing and administering security in a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network. Exam 70-227 covers the installation, configuration, and administration of Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, Enterprise Edition. Exam 70-350 addresses the implementation of Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004. And lastly comes the CompTIA Security+. Remember that you have to select only 2 of the above mentioned exams. MCSA: Security on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Certification Requirements As a MCSA: Security on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 candidate you have to clear all the core exams as well as the security specialization exams. Three exams required are core exams whereas only two security specialization exams are required to be cleared. The core exams include the following: - Exam 70290 which consists of managing & maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 environment. Exam 70291 which consists of implementing, managing, and maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 network infrastructure. Exam 70-210 consisting of installation, configuration, and administration of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional platform. And finally Exam 70270 which deals with same attributes as that of Exam 70-210 but which is based on Microsoft Windows XP Professional. You are required to select any one of Exam 70-210 and Exam 70-270. MCSA: Security specialization exams are as follows. Exam 70-299: Implementing and administering security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 network. Exam 70-227: Installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, Enterprise Edition.
