The Similarities And Dissimilarities Between MCSA And MCSE

 

MCSA and MCSE are both a part of MCP (Microsoft Certification Program). This certification program was started by Microsoft with an aim to train and certify individuals in its various tools and technologies. MCP is an individual certification program in itself. It is also made up of other certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, MCDBA, MCSD etc. All these certifications certify an individual's familiarity with specific Microsoft technology and its area of application.

MCSA is simpler than MCSE certification course. MCSE focuses on how to plan, design and implement Windows server systems for medium to large scale organizations while MCSA focuses upon how to implement, manage and maintain these server systems. MCSE candidate is required to have at least one year of experience in implementing and managing desktop and network operating systems while MCSA requires to have six to twelve months of experience in administering network and client operating systems.

 

The related job titles that apply to a MCSE certificate holder are network engineer, system engineer, network analyst, system analyst, technical consultants, etc. The job titles that apply to MCSA certificate holders are information system administrator, system administrator, network administrator, network operations analyst, network technician, technical support executive, etc.

In order to get MCSE certificate the individual has to clear six core exams that includes four networking, one designing and one client operating system exams and one elective exam. That is, it requires one to clear seven exams to get MCSE certification. On the other hand one needs to clear three core exams and one elective exam in order to get certified as MCSA.

There are a number of training institutes that properly guide an individual towards MCSA and MCSE courses. These institutes provide study materials, lectures by certified professionals on various technologies and practice test facilities to the candidates who enroll in the training course with them.
